It was wonderful getting a phone call from Simon late last October saying he and his fiancee, Noreen, wanted to book us to capture their wedding day at beautiful Whatley Manor, just before Christmas. We’ve been huge fans of this beautiful manor for many years – we could write a long list of the numerous things there are to love about the hotel both as a wedding venue and a place to relax and unwind. After a quick chat and a diary check, we booked the date for Simon and Noreen and settled on a date to meet over in the Cotswolds to do some planning for the wedding, and get to know each other better.
Simon and Noreen wanted to do an engagement shoot too. As their Christmas wedding was planned as a late afternoon ceremony (after dark), we decided to do their engagement in the grounds of Whatley to capture some shots of them in this gorgeous backdrop. We normally encourage our clients to choose a different location to the wedding venue – for us, an engagement isn’t a rehearsal without the clothes, its a shoot in its own right – its about capturing a couple’s ‘moment’ together in their lives, having fun, being themselves, just before getting married.
So we headed over to Whatley on a November morning and braved the cold – there were log fires alight inside the hotel to warm up inbetween shots. We were lucky to have a sunny day – the perfect winters day, and finished photographing them in the last hour of light outside as the sun went down. Thanks for braving it Simon and Noreen – we think it was worth the results!
If you’re getting married this year or next over in the Cotswolds (or anywhere in the UK or abroad!) and are looking for photographers, feel free to get in touch, we’d love to hear from you!
