“Jo and Nic create magic. They have captured the most special moments of my daughter’s 18th birthday with our beloved animals. I would never hesitate to recommend them!”

Last July, we headed to Ashcott in Somerset for an evening photoshoot with Faith and her two horses, Billy and Chino. The session was an 18th birthday gift from mum Karen, and we planned the whole shoot carefully with Karen from the timings, to the date of the session, and Faith’s outfit choices!

We were so thrilled that the weather was perfect on the day – warm and sunny with blue sky and soft clouds – and we arrived at the family home about 5pm, to start shooting at 6pm and finish at sunset.

We could instantly see how much Faith adores her horses and the bond she has with them. Billy is a 15-year-old Blagdon Cob who has been in the family since he was 18 months: Faith said “Billy out of our 2 horses is the more quiet and laidback personality. He is very loving & I’m always greeted with some neighs! He has helped me hugely in learning how to progress my riding skills – he is a massive confidence giver and this is what I love most about him. “

Chino was Faith’s first riding pony and is a 17-year-old ginger and white Shetland, whom the family have owned for 13 years. Faith told us: “Chino has a very cheeky personality, he also enjoys being the boss out of our 2 horses. He is a very loving pony and he adores being groomed and fussed. He’s very bold in general and this gave me confidence as he was my first riding pony – he’s especially bold when it comes to electric tape and trying his luck with getting the nicer grass!!

I absolutely adore everything about him but especially his cheeky personality and watching him work out a way of getting what he likes and wants.”

After starting with some stable shots of both horses separately and with Faith, we made time to include the two family dogs – Murphy, and Miya. The sun was starting to go down, so after a quick and welcome cup of tea 🙂 we then decided to shoot around a beautiful field of long grass next to the house, for some Golden Hour shots. This is by far my favourite time of day to shoot, and the setting of the long summer grass, was just perfect!

Not only that, but Faith had not just one or two, but three stunning dresses for the shoot, all of which we managed to use in different ways for different images!

Most of all, the whole shoot was so relaxed and fun, we loved sharing this time with Faith, Karen and family to capture some special memories for Faith in honour of her18th birthday.

Below is a selection of favourite images – we hope you like them!
