“Jo & Nic were so friendly, easy-going and flexible. They handled a difficult situation, where neither the weather nor the horse were cooperating, really well to get some amazing photos! My album is absolutely beautiful, it’s gorgeous and I adore it! I would highly recommend the experience to anyone looking for a photoshoot. Their expertise allows them to be extremely versatile and adapt to the style of photography you are looking for, all while providing a great service. I can’t thank you enough, Jo & Nic!’

As well as taking the photographs, we love creating beautiful keepsakes for our clients – whether its ‘wallart’ to hang in their homes, albums to share and keep for posterity, cards or mounted prints. After our shoot with her, Chiara chose a beautiful 10” Fine Art album including a collection of her favourite images from the session, as a keepsake – you can have a little glimpse of her album here:

We first encountered Chiara when she entered our 2016 Young Sponsored Riders competition – we loved her entry which showed her passion and commitment to her sport, Eventing. So we were thrilled when she was a runner-up in our competition, winning an equine photoshoot with us.

A date was booked for the spring and we headed to the family’s beautiful home in Wiltshire where Chiara & her horses are based.

Chiara’s “main man” is called ‘Concerto’, stable name Toto, and is a beautiful, sensetive black 15.3hh  Hanoverian X Thoroughbred , who is 14 years old. Chiara has had him for 2 years, and is competing him at CCI1* currently.  He was a sensetive boy in front of the camera, but we could instantly see the close and amazing bond that these two have. As well as eventing him, Chiara does some fun ‘trick’ training with Toto.

We also photographed the family’s two other horses – ‘Livelle’, a pretty 7 year old bay Wesphalian mare, whom the family have owned for 2 years, and ‘Treasure’, a 23 year old KWPN x Arab Grand Prix dressage horse, who is now retired, having had a full career in dressage. And of course, we couldn’t ignore gorgeous lurcher ‘Zoro’, who faithfully ‘hung out’ with us throughout the shoot!

We spent some time around the yard photographing each of our models, and then popped out to a couple of lovely local spots with Chiara on Toto bareback – just up the road via the pretty country lanes, there was a big field of rapeseed which we knew would look stunning against Toto’s gorgeous black coat. Finally, we headed to a nearby woodland, to give us a different backdrop. The skies  suddenly opened and the rain came down!  Had it been just a light shower, we would have waited – we wanted to do one final shot using our location lights –  but it literally bucketted! We also felt that Toto had had enough – we always  stay flexible aiming to keep horses calm on a shoot, and sometimes there is a limit on what they will do! He had been a great model for us all afternoon, so this felt like a good time to call it a day!

Thanks Chiara for being such a wonderful model, and to mum Bettina for being on hand, to bang buckets and help keep horses attentive and happy!
