Sometimes getting a different or interesting shot is just about being in the right place at the right time. Back in 2013, we had the honour of photographing the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art at Olympia Horse Show in London, their first performance in the UK in 40 years. This was a fantastic experience, not just seeing and being able to photograph these amazing riders and horses, but being in the midst of the incredible atmosphere – the crowds simply loved their performance.

On the morning of the performance, we were waiting out in the collecting ring to do a PR photo with the Spanish riders and horses, and Charlotte Dujardin was also in the ring waiting, on Valegro. What happened next brought a smile to everyone’s faces, Valegro looked over and started “chatting” with one of the white PREs. I’d love to know what the two horses were saying! Can anyone caption these shots? Suggestions welcome!

With our thanks to Sherene Rahmatallah of Sussex Lusitanos and the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, without whom this photoshoot wouldn’t have been possible.
