We were over the moon to hear that one of our Young Sponsored Riders, 14 year old Lucy Mae Bush, from Peasedown St John, Bath,  has won a Pride of Somerset Youth Award!

The awards are organised by BBC Somerset, the Rotary Club of Taunton and the Somerset County Gazette series of newspapers, to recognize the achievement of a young person in Somerset who has “done something to make you proud” in the last year. Entrants need to be under 20 years and live in Somerset.

Lucy didn’t know she had won the award until Friday evening at the ceremony. She said “Im thrilled to have won an award, it was a lovely night, it was slightly scary being interviewed live though! I love my horse Rainbow and trust him so much, thats what its all about for me.”

Lucy is one of 3 young riders to have won a sponsorship from us plus help and advice on taking their equestrian skills to the next level from Natasha Baker, MBE, Rio Paralympics triple-gold medallist. Lucy had her first mentoring session with Natasha face to face in January and last week I went to see her to deliver her branded goodies – a gilet for her and a rug for her new horse Power. This is the second year one of our Young Riders has won a Pride of Somerset Award, last year’s being won by Hope Hayward.
