Happy First Anniversary today to lovely Alison and Rupert – we hope you’re having a wonderful day!

Alison and  Rupert got married in central London, last summer, a year ago today. In the middle of the hectic city, they held their stylish, elegant wedding day, with the ceremony in the stunning St Brides Church, just off Fleet Street, and the reception in the In & Out Naval & Military Club, located just up the road in St James Square. It was such an honour to be asked to capture this amazing, special day for such a wonderful couple.

“Jo and Nic were everything that we hoped for in wedding photographers! Right from the initial ‘getting to know you’ call we knew we were in great hands. Jo was meticulous in finding out all the details in advance so they knew who everyone was in the wedding party and what was most important to us to capture throughout the day. Jo and Nic were fun to work with, and were so delightful that even the most camera shy guests enjoyed being photographed! Our wedding photos and album will be treasured and over the years we hope to add some family, dog and horse photos to our lovely collection of Jo Hansford photos!” Alison & Rupert

We’d got to know Alison and Rupert a little in the spring, when we headed to the city to spend a day with them, doing their engagement shoot and planning their London wedding day. We knew from our first meeting their day was going to be pretty special! The couple love London life, with all its hustle and bustle, culture, and social events, they enjoy antique shops and a spot of wine tasting! They also have a passion for the great outdoors and Alison, for riding horses (definitely a hit for me!) . In Alison’s words: “If we could have dogs and horses in the city, it would be perfect!”. We know how they feel!!

The colours and styling of their day were elegant, and minimal with a navy blue theme with golf leaf ; Alison’s 3 bridesmaids sported navy dresses, Rupert and his groomsmen wore traditional morning suits with grey waistcoats and ties matching the wedding colour of blue. Alison’s stunning lace gown was from White Rose, and as a wonderful touch, she changed into stylish shorter Karen Millen dress for the evening party. What a great look!

After a fantastic church ceremony, everyone headed back to the reception, Alison and Rupert in a white London cab, the guests in a red London double decker. Drinks and canapes flowed, and we headed outside to the beautiful garden by the club to spend some time with the newly weds before dinner. Everyone headed into dinner and speeches, and the room was full of chatter, laughter and atmosphere.

For their band, Alison and Rupert chose  an 80’s cover band, ‘Sledgehammer’. We see a lot of bands in our line of work, but trust us, these guys were amazing!!! People flocked to the dance floor to boogie and join in the fun.
