The first time I saw Jean-François Pignon working at liberty with his beautiful horses was when I saw some footage of him working with Martin Clunes on the film, Horsepower. I was completely mesmerised as his team of horses magically followed his every move, I had to watch it several times to believe what I was seeing. He had this connection and intimacy with the horses, so they all seemed to follow his lead happily, the whole thing looked amazing.
So I approached Jean-François about doing a shoot over in France, and back in May we found ourselves staying in beautiful Arles for a few days, with all our kit packed. The day of the shoot, we waited at his stables while he prepared, and we were wowed when Jean-François just appeared with a stallion and mare, unbridled, happily following behind him.
We spent a few hours into the evening capturing Jean-François with his horses, in the woodland, stables and fields, closing with a shot of Jean-François with stallion Tiego in a nearby wheat field. An awesome finish to an amazing photoshoot, we hope we have done his incredible talent some justice with these shots.

Our thanks to JF for sharing his time with us, his wife Sylvie for helping the planning of the shoot and his lovely children for being wonderful models.
