Just before the snow hit us all here in UK, I headed to Wellington in Somerset to meet Sally and her gorgeous Cob ‘Thunder’ for a mini shoot. It was freezing cold (think hands frozen to the camera body through thick gloves after 10 minutes outside shooting!!) so we had to be quick for everyone’s sake, including Thunder, who was clipped so was going to feel the freeze pretty quickly too!

Sally has owned Thunder for 12 years and tells me he is a lovely horse to own. In her words  “He was given the nickname Kevin as an 8 year old as he was very much the stroppy teenager – “can’t shan’t won’t”!!! 12 years later and not much has changed! He has a lovely personality and is everybody’s favourite when they need a sensible head for cantering out”. That is, unless he’s with his best mate – and then the feathers fly!”

Sally kept Thunder stabled for 24 hours before the shoot, so when we let him loose in his field, the feathers definitely flew!! He may be 20 but his energy and attitude was more like a 4 year old horse – it really was a joy to watch! We were slightly disappointed that the snow hadn’t fallen in time for the shoot – but the amazing display he put on combined with some gorgeous afternoon light really made the trip worthwhile!

I can see why Sally is so in love with this gorgeous, cheeky, teenage horse!
