Back in February I had the chance to photograph a stunning stallion, Rubicell, in the beautiful Gordano Valley, North Somerset. Rubicell is a black Oldenburg, out of stallion Rubinstein I and Lord Liberty Mare, Tiffany, owned by Jo & Martin at Fairlight Stud, which specialises in providing World Class stallions, and the breeding of high quality sports horses and ponies. We first met Jo and Martin a few years ago when we captured them with their two beautiful daughters Annabel and Pippa.
I wanted to capture this horse in misty morning light ‘at liberty’ in one of the fields on the farm. Rubicell was once ranked as number 34 in the WBFSH (World Breeding Federation of Sports Horses) site rankings and is renowned for producing talented rideable and trainable offspring. Watching him rolling around his field at 8am on a cold February morning, I could see why – he may be a more ‘mature’ horse now (20 this year) but he has the spirit, majesty and energy of a stallion half his age. It was so refreshing and inspiring watching him “breathing the fog”, bucking and galloping around the field, enjoying his freedom – this is very much a horse with presence!

Thank you very much for theses pictures ! I’m the breeder of a horse by Rubicell and he has the same had and eye.
