The buttercups are out in the fields in all their vibrant yellow glory right now, so it felt like an apt time to share a horse photoshoot we did last spring, but never got around to blogging – Callum with his horses, Brendon and Maisie. Callum’s mum bought him this photoshoot as a Christmas gift, and we decided that May was a perfect month to head out to the fields around their yard in Gloucestershire to do the shoot.

It has to be said the majority of our equine photoshoots are with ladies of all ages – so it was a real treat for us to meet and work with Callum. He not only clearly has a magical bond with his horses, is a talented young rider, he also has great dress sense! We loved his tweed jacket, funky boots and cap, followed by traditional equestrian wear for the last set of shots, which just added a personal twist to the photos.

On the day of the shoot, we started with some informal shots around the yard of Callum with the 2 horses, Brendon, a 16.2 Chestnut thoroughbred gelding, and Maisie, a 16h bay warmblood cross mare, and a walk up the bridlepath where there was a stunning big buttercup field, perfect for some photographs. We rounded off the shoot early evening, with some dusky shots using our location lights, on one of the hills overlooking the Severn valley, with Callum dressed in more formal riding clothes.

We loved the shoot, here are some of our favourite shots.

If you’re thinking about an equine shoot or want to talk through ideas, we’d love to hear from you, you can get in touch here. If you’d like to see some more of our equine portraits, take a look at our portfolio here, or why not follow our facebook page, where we regularly post our shoots.

Please share on social media, we love to spread the word!
