We had an amazing time doing our photoshoot with young eventer Lottie and her horses last spring!

Lottie is one of our 2018 Young Sponsored riders, and won her shoot with us as a part of her sponsorship package. She’s a 16 year old eventer based in Gloucestershire, where she and mum Suzanne have a little herd of horses. They both have incredible passion for the sport of eventing, travelling most weekends during the season to allow Lottie to compete, with Lottie managing their yard at home and training the horses, with support from her trainer, Holly Norris. It was this total passion and commitment to the sport that impressed us about Lottie – we could see she has a real drive to succeed,  we also felt she would benefit and continue to grow with the support  of sponsorship, and from the mentoring with Natasha Baker which our sponsorship offers. We weren’t disappointed, Lottie had an amazing year with her horses last year, finishing with her first FEI 1* International on Hugo, going clear in the cross country at Bicton in October. Amazing!

“The biggest thank you from the bottom of my heart! Natasha has been a huge inspiration not only to me, and also to many many other young riders like me, and I’m so lucky to be able to to talk to her and get the support from both her, and you and Nic.”

For Lottie’s photoshoot, we planned to photograph 3 of the horses –  Evan, Dizzee & Taz. Evan is Lottie’s 18 year old Welsh section D X, whom she has owned for 5 years, a cheeky, fresh gelding,  whom Lottie adores!  We could see that this pony means the world to Lottie, so we devoted a big chunk of the photoshoot to Evan. Our second equine model was Dizzee, a 16’3hh  Hanoverian warmblood, who the family are in the process of buying, and finally, last but not least was Taz, Lottie’s cheeky first pony, a 16 year old mini Shetland, now retired at home but as naughty as ever!!

Before the shoot, Lottie mentioned that she would love to create an ‘ethereal’ look for some of the photographs, to do something a bit different.  We loved the idea, so  we asked dress designer Lisa Keating if she had a dress we could loan for the shoot, and bingo, the answer was yes! To add to the look, we asked local florist, Jules of Wild & Co, if she would make a flowercrown, fortunately Jules was happy to oblige!

When the day of Lottie’s shoot dawned in late May, it was boiling hot, so we decided  to shoot late, to catch the soft evening light. We started with all 3 horses at the stables, then we headed out to the local fields with Evan for some casual, walking and bareback shots with Lottie in casual wear. He wasn’t the easiest pony – even though he is 19 years old, he was incredibly lively and strong on the shoot – such a character! With all that done, Lottie changed and we photographed her in the beautiful pink, floaty dress which Lisa had supplied, with the gorgeous flower crown from Jules – just stunning! Such a great finale to a wonderful shoot – here are a few of our favourite images, we hope you like them too.

A big thank you to Lottie, who has been an amazing ambassador and a wonderful part of the JHP team for the last year!
