This week we have chosen to feature a wedding photograph from a couple of years ago in our series “shot of the week”.

This image is from Jo & Matt’s fabulous day at Coombe Lodge, in Blagdon near Bristol, from a couple of years ago. One of the lovely features of this venue is that you can have your wedding ceremony outside – Jo and Matt were blessed with a lovely sunny June day, perfect for their al fresco vows followed by a mingle and drinks reception in the grounds of the lodge.

I love their expressions in this shot, the way their laughter mirrors each other, and the guests in the background are all looking on smiling. Its a great example of photography “capturing the moment” just as it happens, and holding the memory for years to come. As a duo, Nic and I love being unobtrusive at weddings, blending in, and just directing the proceedings a little where needed, to ensure we get the best images of any situation at a wedding. I hope you like this image too – feel free to comment and share.

Coombe Lodge wedding

The story behind this shot – Matt was struggling to get the ring onto Jo’s finger to the point where it became comical and the registrar conducting their ceremony couldn’t resist laughing and commenting – but the ‘subplot’ doesn’t really matter, as the picture tells a story and we all get the gist of their happiness and emotion, on their special day.

If you’d like to have a look through their whole wedding day at Coombe Lodge, take a look at our blog post here. Heres a lovely comment from Jo and Matt which they sent in a card to us afterwards: “Thank you so much both of you for doing such a fantastic job of photographing our wedding day. You managed to capture the day so perfectly! You were both great during the lead up to and planning, and on the day itself. Our album is just amazing and we now have a memory which we will treasure for a lifetime!”
