Its a year ago today that Martin & Jenni tied the knot at Kings Weston House, with us there capturing all the fun and action of their day. To honour the occasion we wanted to post a couple of shots chosen by them, rather than by us, to be framed and hang as “artpieces” on their walls at home.

It’s always fascinating for us to see which pictures our couples choose for an album or a frame, and why. Often, they select images which we would have chosen as the photographers, with interesting, strong composition, good light and drama, being among the reasons for choosing a particular shot. Sometimes, its also because we captured a particularly memorable “moment” when they were happy and excited, having just said their vows, a memory they want to look at every day and keep for posterity. As a nation, we’re pretty reserved about putting gigantic pictures of ourselves on the wall – more often, we find our couples feel more comfortable with a photograph where they are just a part of a bigger scene, featured in a lovely spot around their wedding location.

From their engagement shoot, Jenni and Martin chose this photograph of them with Izzy ( their gorgeous lassapoo) up on the hillside near the beach in Weston. We had a big frame made with a large mount, allowing enough space for all the guests to sign at the wedding, often called a Signature Print, and the finished piece looked great.

From the wedding, they liked this landscape image of them, again with Izzy. We had a dry day for the wedding, but overcast grey skies, so the photograph has quite a different feeling to the engagement shot. Martin said he loved this shot for the shape and drama of the tall trees. The photo was framed identically to the engagement, however for this special gift we added handwritten text to the border with the details of their wedding. The end result is two wonderful frames with subtle differences that together make a lovely pair.
