YOUNG RIDER SPONSORSHIP

The Jo Hansford Photography Young Rider Sponsorship Programme developed from our desire to offer a helping hand to aspiring young riders and give something back to the equestrian community. We are committed to supporting talented, passionate young riders and get so much pleasure watching each rider develop and progress throughout the year, and beyond.

Now in its eighth year, this fantastic sponsorship programme is available to promising young
riders nationally from all disciplines.

MENTORING WITH
NATASHA BAKER MBE

We partner with British Paralympic Dressage gold medallist, Natasha Baker MBE to provide specialist mentoring that will equip our young riders with the skills and resilience they need to help achieve their goals.

During each two year programme, we give three lucky winners two equine photoshoots, a branded rug and saddle pad plus four mentoring sessions with Natasha Baker with ongoing support and regular contact with Jo and Natasha throughout the year.

“I am so thrilled at the idea of passing on my knowledge to young riders. I can’t wait to help them reach their full potential. After the joy of winning three gold medals at Rio, it would be another dream come true if I could inspire these talented young people to fulfil their own dreams and aspirations.”

YOUNG SPONSORED RIDERS 2022

As well as an equine photoshoot with us and a branded horse rug and saddlepad, each of these riders receives ongoing mentoring and support throughout 2022.

Beatrice Butterworth, 14, from Bristol, South Gloucestershire is a young dressage rider with two talented ponies both competing at FEI level.  Her main pony,  Carlsson , competes internationally having recently finished 4th place overall in a strong competition at Le Mans, France.

Although still quite new to Beatrice, her second pony, Non Plus Ultra,  has been showing real potential for the future and was reserve for Pony Europeans in 2017.

Beatrice has her sights set on the Pony Europeans 2022 before moving up to Juniors and Young Rider classes.

‘I am very thankful for this opportunity and cannot wait to be working with Jo, Nic and Natasha!

Romilly Mcintosh, 16, from Whelford, Gloucestershire is a busy show jumper who loves competing her two ponies Rosnakill Black Beauty (Piglet) and Liberty Belle (Belle) whilst getting to grips with her new ride, a 18-year-old bay gelding named Caicos (Kai), a fantastic schoolmaster who has previously completed up to 160cm level including the Hickstead Derby!

Now in her last year of ponies, Romilly is looking forward to a fun filled, competitive and exciting year in 2022. She hopes to jump up to 1.30m with Kai and qualify for the Nationals whilst aiming Piglet and Kai at the Amateur Championships and Blue Chip Festival, but most of all have fun!

“I am feeling so lucky and beyond excited to have the support from Jo, Nic and Natasha this year. Their continuous support will be so beneficial in helping me achieve my goals. I am so looking forward to the advice given from Natasha in our mentoring sessions which will be vital as I step up the levels on my horse Caicos (Kai) My main aims for this year is to jump competitively up to 1.30m, qualify for the main championship shows and have some good international placings. I am sure with support of this sponsorship and all the team my goals will be reached. “

Ibble Watson, 18 from Snowshill, Worcestershire is a dedicated young event rider who has previously represented Team GB winning Pony team Gold and individual Silver in 2019. Her top two horses, Candito and Aristoteles SZ, are home produced by Ibble and her mother and clearly showing great talent. Candito recently won Hartpury CCI 2* and Aristoteles S Z won the Junior Championships CCI 3*.

Her goal is to continue  to develop and achieve higher results with her horses as she aims for 4* and Advanced this year and, ultimately, Badminton in 2024.

‘I’m so excited to have been given this opportunity to work with such professionals and amazing people, I can’t wait to get started! My main goal this year is Blenheim with Candito, and the 4*long, with Aristoteles SZ, as well as Young Rider Europeans. I’m sure that Jo, Nic and Natasha will all teach me values that will guide me through my career.’
